Wonderful White Walls

today my wonderful boyfriend started painting the house with me, I'm sort of kicking myself for not taking before pictures, but i will definatley post after pictures. The colors in our house before were: green, medium grey and dark charcoal. The combination of all these colors made our house look super dark and dreary. Sooo.... We are replacing all the green with bright white (CIL white wing). We only have one coat done on the main floor, and already it feels so bright and clean. I love it, it gives us the freedom to change up our furnishings whenever we want. Now it doesn't feel so difficult to decorate! yay freedom!

Little Red Door

I painted my white door red. I really like it, the roller i used was super cheap and it messed up one side of my door, so now i have to sand down the fuzz and start over, but oh well. It looks fine for now. Now i live in a cute blue house with a red door. The paint is by Tremclad, it's their option for red in the cans not the spray paint. The dark blue trim was already there when we moved in, so i'm not sure of the brand or name.

This is my blanket i'm crocheting, it's red fuzzy wool. Going to be very warm.

And yes, This is what my city looks like pre-spring. Very dingy and dry. Trust me, my house looks better with the greenery.

A Little Bit Country

Well, i finished it already, Brent told me that it's his favorite quilt so far. I would have to agree. I can't wait to sit on my porch with my dog on a cool summer morning and curl up with this quilt. Mostly all of the fabric was from Mrs. Kimak's stash (thank you thank you). The back is flannel so it gives the quilt some weight, which i LOVE!! It's a little crooked but i think it's pretty darn good considering i didn't measure at all, i just cut stuff and sewed it together, no plan what so ever. Such a rebel, lol.

Bird Silhouette

This weekend i decided to do some applique bird silhouettes for the bedroom, we have lots of black an white photos up and needed some black and white on the bed to even it out. The birds are made from fleece because i find that it doesn't fray. I sewed them on hand cranking with my machine. lol. This white and silver fabric for the pillow and the quilt back was from my friends mothers stash that she gave to me. It ended up being absolutely perfect for this project.

Sewing 1901-2010

This is my beatuy that i sew with, my partner in crime. It was a Christmas present years ago from my mother who taught me how to sew and be creative. I love this machine more than it's probably normal to love a sewing machine.

The next two pictures are of two different Singer Model 127's from 1948. One is old and rusty and the other is in impecable condition and still works. I haven't used it much but it's a beautiful machine.


This is a Singer Model 28 Sphinx from 1901, I got it from an antique store in Two Hills for $5.00. Best sale ever. I find it an incredibly beautiful work of art and wish that everyday items were still made just as tastefully as they use to be.

Last but not least, this blue beauty is a Beacon machine from somewhere around the 1950's, i can't seem to find much information about Beacon's on the internet, so i don't really know much about this machine except that it works but is difficult to thread.

Love at First Sight

Later that night, after the Antique Mall, i was browsing kijiji and found this gorgeous chair and ottoman for what? $15? So we drove to this little old mans house and picked it up (he decided to change the price to $20 which was so cute). I just love it and my cats do to.

I got these owls from a friend for Christmas, they are salt and pepper shakers but i think they are adorable on display in my living room.

I love 2010.

Today i had my breast reduction consultation in Calgary. Unlike my last one, this one went very well. In 6 weeks i'll be getting surgery. so exciting. Until then, i have lots to do. lol. I am however, going to buy some canvases to paint for the house while i'm recovering. keep my mind busy and my body still. As soon as i am healed up completely, i am going to go to yoga and wear a tank top (without a constrictive bra), that's right, you heard me :)
